Amate bark paper is a handmade paper of Mexico available in a selction of shades in sheets 400mm x 590mm. Amate bark paper is a handmade paper of Mexico made by the Otomi Indians. They are made from the bark of Amate or Jonote tree, Mulberry tree or Xalama Limon. It originally developed in the area where the states of Puebla, Hidalgo, and Veracruz meet, most notably in the town of San Pablito, Puebla. Years of practise let the Otomi artisans to make different sizes and thickness of amate bark paper. The color and grain of the paper depends on the bark used to make it. Sheet sizes 59cm x 39cm.
Hand made papers are available in a selction of shades in sheets 500mm x 760mm.
Hand made marbled papers are available in sheets 760mm x 560mm
Our hand made marble papers are available in a wide selection of shades in sheets 50cm x 76cms. Made the traditional way over many years they are available by the sheet, and we are also pleased to offer additional shades upon request by the sheet.
Spanish marble papers
Although not hand made, the Spanish marble papers are in fact printed, and have been used in covering the outer pages of old ledgers for many years. Sheet sizes are 76cm x 56cm and are available by the sheet.
